About Me

Hi, and welcome to my pages. Let me introduce myself.

My name is Paul Whitham and I have been taking photos for more time than I care to mention. In fact in most cases longer than my models have been on the planet. At school and university I processed my own images but when life intervened photography went to the back burner and prints came from the lab.

Fast forward to 2005 when I bought a decent digital SLR that I decided to take it seriously. Like many photographers with nice gear I was solely in “auto” and was not completely happy with the results.

So having agreed to shoot my first wedding I decided that I better learn how to use the camera better and enrolled in a night course at Heretaunga College, and joined a camera club. In each endeavour it was about learning and improving myself.

Since then I have discovered that my main passion is shooting people and sports, as well as conceptual images. I also have discovered that I enjoy the challenge of turning the idea into an image often more than simply looking at the final product.  To develop this further I have invested in some quite serious gear.

Photography is my love rather than my work, which means that I put way more of me into the finished images. I love to produce creative images which I hope you will see by looking through this blog.
